Perhaps one of the more unusual Christmas concerts I've seen, this family-and-friends affair anchored by Kate and Anna McGarrigle is oddly disarming, in an "I'm not sure this is charming or not" sort of weird way. It may not be the perfect fit for every household, but there is that elusive something on display here that I can't put my finger on that I found intriguing. Even perpetually craggy rock icon Lou Reed looked like he was enjoying himself.

I initially came because it had J.J. (Lost) Abrams name attached to it, but I stayed for the bizarro mythos and the absolute joy of John Noble. It's unfair to coldly label this an X-Files clone, because the unfettered weirdness of the writing easily sets this one its own two legs.

A simplistic family/tweener Bigfoot adventure, in the vein of Harry and the Hendersons, only not nearly as good. It's tough to find suitable family fare these days, and though this one isn't especially original, it should fit the bill if you got youngsters in the house.
And no, Angie Everhart does not take her clothes off.
