DVD Review HEMPSTERS: PLANT THE SEED

HEMPSTERS: PLAN

The topic of marijuana legalization has never been more of a hot-button issue than it is today, and this documentary promises to delve into the subject down to its core. It'll be interesting to see just how politically driven the film turns out to be.

Article HBO's Game Change Comes Up a Bit Short

HBO's Game Chan

Highly anticipated, Game Change ultimately falls flat, but not because it is not entertaining enough in a superficial way. The story of Sarah from Alaska and her ascension to the national stage is an unpleasant story of unpleasant people trying to do very unpleasant things. Maybe playing it for real laughs would have redeemed it.

Ethos on DVD an

The 2012 election year is underway, the presidential primaries are in full force, and the Occupy Movement seems like a thing of the past. The news media creates the impression that the public has a real choice between the two leading parties. You are allowed to choose either RED or BLUE, but in reality, the parties are the two sides of the same coin which is in the pocket of the corporate elite. Our country is controlled by some very wealthy families and not our chosen government. These families control the main pillars of our society which include; politics, corporations, banks and the media.

DVD Review HEMPSTERS: PLANT THE SEED

I'm not sure if this is going to be a bona fide documentary film, or simply an extended propaganda piece for the legalization of hemp, but with Woody Harrelson on board, it promises to at least be interesting.

PR Hempsters: Plant the Seed on DVD Jun 28

Hempsters: Plan

This lively documentary, directed by Michael Henning and produced by Diana Oliver, explores the reasons why the United States is the only developed country that still bans the growth of Industrial Hemp. Hemp, which is a durable fiber cultivated from plants of the cannabis genus, can be used for paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, construction, health food and fuel. Due to its relation to marijuana, it is illegal to grow in the U.S. under Federal law. Hemp is considered a controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act even though it contains minimum levels of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

PR Criterion Collection September Titles

Criterion Colle

This September, two of the greatest, as well as the most unorthodox, films about World War II will come to the Criterion Collection, in both Blu-ray and DVD editions. Terrence Malick's star-studded (Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Woody Harrelson), multiple-Oscar-nominated James Jones adaptation The Thin Red Line is a staggering accomplishment, a profoundly moving, existential trip to war's heart of darkness, set during the battle for Guadalcanal. And Nagisa Oshima's extraordinarily bold Japanese POW camp drama Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, starring David Bowie as a mysterious prisoner targeted by an obsessive camp commander, is one of the controversial director's most acclaimed and beloved films. Plus, two jazzy sixties hits—Godard's Breathless, with Jean-Paul Belmondo, celebrating its fiftieth anniversary, and Stanley Donen's Charade, starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant—come out in new Criterion Blu-ray editions.
