WILFRED: THE COMPLETE SERIES

Fans of the U.S version of Wilfred might be interested in checking out this complete - yet brief - run of the original Aussie series, both of which feature co-creator Jason Gann as the pot-smoking dog with the bad attitude.

The image transfers are nothing impressive, but there's plenty of sweeping thematic differences to make the experience completely new and funny, and if you are a Wilfred newbie then this could serve as a primer to see if a man in a dog suit is your kind of humor.

ROLLING THUNDER (BLU-RAY)

Famous for being one of Quentin Tarantino's favorite films, it seems only fitting that this flick makes its way to Blu-ray from the edgy, always-reliable Shout! Factory. I'm really looking forward to what QT loves so much about this.

DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY/RACE WITH THE DEVIL (BLU-RAY)

Whenever I fondly recall my drive-in movie days from the mid 1970s these are two of the first flicks that come to mind (just after Rock and Roll High School). This double-feature Blu-Ray is one hell of a low-budget joyride, even if the characters in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry and Race With The Devil do not have experiences that could be considered particularly joyous.

Recommended.

The Rookies was a memorable series from the middle Seventies that both well-written and well-acted. Its second season include many intriguing plot lines and guest stars like Don Johnson, Nick Nolte, Strother Martin, John Travolta and Jim Nabors.

DESIGNING WOMEN: THE FINAL SEASON

Designing Women, created by Linda-Bloodworth Thomason, was a very successful and unique situation comedy for its era with an almost completely female cast and a unique tone and perspective. Unfortunately most of the accolades pertained to the first five seasons of the show. Cast changes mixed up the chemistry of the show over its final two seasons and typically obtuse network decision making finalized its demise.

YOUNG & HANDSOME: A NIGHT WITH JEFF GARLIN

If you only know Jeff Garlin from his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm then this leisurely paced standup act may come off a bit surprising. He's an entertaining storyteller, and even when he goes off the rails it's a fun listen.

I'll just try not to nitpick that the cover is labeled Young & Handsome: A Night with Jeff Garlin, while the menu titles call it Young and Handsome: An Evening with Jeff Garlin.
