DVD Review

What's worse than a dull Survivor ripoff? A dull Survivor ripoff with six nude women. Trust me, I never thought I'd hear myself say that. In another of Seduction Cinema's lusty lesbian releases, we are treated here to a follow-up to Erotic Survivor 1, which has now been trimmed down to feature only women. The first installment had some of Seduction's top talent, including Misty Mundae (Mummy Raider) and Darian Caine, while Erotic Survivor 2 stars Katie Jordon as the most familiar face in the group of hapless contestants. According to host/director John Bacchus, the competition takes place in Africa. Sure it does, John. It should be apparent to just about anyone watching that the "Africa" in Erotic Survivor 2 appears to be nothing more than a heavily wooded area somewhere in the eastern United States. Bacchus has the feel of a guy who is making things up as he goes along, but I can't fault him for being able to surround himself with women who are not shy about parading about undressed. Plus, Bacchus is no stranger to this type of film, as he directed Seduction's The Erotic Witch Project, Mistress Frankenstein and Play-mate Of The Apes.Much like the actual CBS survival series, the women here are divided into two tribes: Coochie and OBGYN. I won't bore you with identifying all of the "contestants," just realize that each tribe has one requisite large-breasted woman. In the spirit of competition, they are battling for a grand prize of $20, which admittedly made me laugh out loud; intermediate prizes included a Spam portrait of Amerigo Vespucci and 15 cubic feet of air. Bacchus coordinates the various activities that must be completed, and they resemble something that a drunken frat party would have designed after a keg party. Whether it's balancing pennies on their bare breasts, straddling an inflatable doll between their knees, or a game of dirty word Scrabble, the women battle without a shred of modesty, despite the inherent smut-soaked silliness of the whole thing. In between each of the "events," there is plenty of simulated softcore lesbian sex, which alternately feature two, three and finally all six of the women in various combinations and positions. Obviously the pairings between the women is the real selling point of a disc like this, and if so, there is plenty here if that's your bag. Ultimately, as entertainment this disc fails miserably. I never thought I would be bored by 90 minutes of nudity and non-stop softcore sex, but I was. Though if this had starred Misty Mundae, then I think it may have been another story altogether.

Image Transfer Review: Presented in 1.33:1 full-frame, Erotic Survivor 2 has that straight-from-the-video-camera feel to it. The greens of "Africa" look rich and bright, though the consistency of the fleshtones vary from scene to scene. If you had used your video camera, it would have looked just this good. No source print flaws to speak of.

Audio Transfer Review: A basic 2.0 audio track provides for generally clean dialogue, with minimal hiss and not much else in the way of fluff. Some type of windsock was needed for the mikes, because a few of the scenes are almost rendered unintelligible due to gusty winds. Does it really matter how good or bad the sound is?

Extras Review: Aside from the entertaining, yet skin-filled, trailers for four of Seduction's other titles (Erotic Survivor, Misty Mundae's Mummy Raider, Sexy 6th Sense, Countess Dracula), a 28m:39s behind-the-scenes feature dollops on even more gratuitous flesh, in addition to providing some much needed "additional" footage from the production. No real technical insight, just an excuse for more breasts.

Final Comments

When excessive female nudity can't hold my interest, there is definitely something wrong. Somebody get Misty Mundae on the phone, pronto!
