Give Me Shelter

"Something needs to be done on behalf of those with no voice who depend on us to survive." - Katie Cleary, Executive Producer

Since we often take the lives of Earth's creatures for granted, sometimes a light needs to be shined on the horrors so many of them face on a daily basis. Helping to shine that light is the stirring call to action Give Me Shelter, a new film about the ways helpless animals are being abused for man's benefit and the things that can be done to bring positive change. It comes to Digital Download and DVD on February 24, 2015, from Virgil Films.

Executive producer, actress and animal rights advocate Katie Cleary has teamed with debuting director Kristin Rizzo to create a documentary that uncovers the most prevalent and pressing issues in the animal world through the eyes of individuals dedicating their lives to them daily.

Give Me Shelter raises awareness for important animal issues around the globe. Cleary and Rizzo uncover the work that many individuals and animal organizations do in a way that has never been done before. Their powerful, fearless film illustrates what is really going on in the underground black market trade of wild and exotic animals, puppy mills, poaching, animal abuse and neglect, the food we consume, as well as the fur and pet industries and all the other operations that trade on the suffering of innocent animals.

The movie is about the people who dedicate their lives every day to helping rescue, save, rehabilitate and take care of domestic, wild and exotic animals - everything from cats and dogs to pot-bellied pigs and hyenas - and the hardships that they face in following their passion and having their voices heard. Give Me Shelter has the capability of changing the lives of countless species of animals around the world whose issues otherwise would not be exposed.

Celebrity animal activists interviewed in this passionate film include Tippi Hedren of The Birds, Robert Davi, Alison Eastwood, Esai Morales, Charlotte Ross and Michael Vartan.
